ATLANTA, Ga. — The event took place Saturday, Sept. 6, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Georgia International Convention Center in Atlanta.
During the event, individuals had access to job opportunities, while also being able to sharpen their job interviewing skills. Job counselors were onsite critiquing resumes, according to HFTH.
"So much has happened in our society and people are polarizing themselves," said Afemo Omilami, chief operating officer of Hosea Feed the Hungry. "Atlantans are looking for jobs, ways to sustain and build, they are not looking for a handout they are looking for a hand up."
According to the Department of Labor's July report, unemployment still hovers around 6.2 percent nationally. In Georgia, the unemployment rate sits at 7.8 percent, HFTH said in a statement.
The Labor of Love event also featured traditional HFTH activities including food and clothing distribution, and medical screenings. The event was free and open to the public.
Sponsors of this year’s included The Law Offices of Kanner and Pintaluga, Convoy of Hope and Omilami Productions.
