GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Honda will pay to repair an annoying problem affecting thousands driving the company's popular CR-V Crossover.

Channel 2 consumer investigator Jim Strickland first exposed the trouble 18 months ago.

"It's driven me crazy for six years. It's more like seven years now," said driver Mino Reed of Lawrenceville. "It's just an aggravation."

The problem involves a part inside the door called the actuator.  It cost Amanda Morrison of Henry County a $175-locksmith call when her car locked while it was running.

"It's a safety issue, too.  If the car catches on fire, we may not get out in time because you have to hit it just right and time it just right to open the doors," she told Strickland.

Court documents outline Honda's agreement to settle a class action lawsuit with owners of CR-Vs from 2007-2008 and some from 2009.

The company will repair the locks even on cars that don't exhibit a problem.

They'll also extend the warranty covering the locks for an additional three years.

Drivers who've already paid the $400 cost for repairs will be reimbursed.

A federal judge must approve the settlement.  There is no timeline for repairs.  Lawyers on both sides agreed in the settlement not to speak to the media.
