HENRY COUNTY, Ga. — The Henry County Police Department announced Monday night that Officer Paramhans Desai has died after he was shot last week as he attempted to make an arrest.
The department said Desai was surrounded by his family when he passed.
“Officer Desai continues to serve, even in his passing, by donating multiple organs which will save numerous lives. Please continue to keep Officer Desai’s family in your thoughts and prayers through this terrible tragedy,” the department said in a news release.
Henry County police have identified the suspect they said shot Desai as 22-year-old Jordan Jackson.
Desai joined the department in 2020 and was a veteran officer who also worked for the Georgia Department of Corrections and DeKalb County Police. He is survived by his wife and two young children.

Amerman adds that Jackson is “armed and dangerous” and has not been captured. He drove from the scene in a white 2016 Honda Civic with license plate RXF0384.
Later, police said the suspect may possibly be traveling in a white 2021 Dodge Ram with Georgia tag CRX4743, but the Dodge was later recovered.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has issued a Blue Alert for Jackson as he has still not been located. A “Blue Alert” is issued for a suspect wanted for injuring or killing a police officer.
Anyone with information on Jackson’s whereabouts should call 911 or Henry County police at 770-957-9121. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers Atlanta by calling them at 800-597-TIPS (8477) or on the GBI website.
The Henry County police department said they have set up a fund for donations to Desai’s family.
Donations can be made through the “Ralph Easterwood Angel Wings for Warriors Benevolence Fund.” The Ralph Easterwood Angel Wings for Warriors Benevolence Fund is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organized for the sole purpose of helping the families of sworn, non-sworn and civilian employees, of all first responders.
Donations will also be accepted at the Henry County Police Department located at 108 South Zack Hinton Parkway McDonough, GA 30253.
