GDOT plans road widening to ease traffic, reduce crashes

MCDONOUGH, Ga. — The City of McDonough is letting residents know that a proposed construction project could be coming to the area soon, and state officials want their feedback.

According to the city, the Georgia Department of Transportation is planning a widening project on State Route 155/N. McDonough Road in an effort to reduce crashes, help with traffic congestion and make it easier for pedestrians to get around.

The project would start at the intersection of SR 155 and Hampton Locust Grove, extending northeast for 3.75 miles to where SR 155 meets Interstate 75.

Before the project starts, GDOT is hosting in-person meetings for residents to see the project details, talk to those working on the plans and give their comments on it.

An in-person meeting will be held Thursday at 5 p.m. at the Henry County Administration Building on Henry Parkway.
