Owner rescued by SWAT teams after home invasion; one suspect still on run

SOUTH FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — Police and SWAT teams have rescued a homeowner who was stuck inside his home for hours with intruders.

East Point police told Channel 2's Sophia Choi the situation started as a home invasion at a house off Duke of Gloucester Street.

Police entered the home around 6 a.m. and were able to get the homeowner out safely. Police have two people in custody, but they are searching for a third suspect.

Channel 2 Action News reached out to Fulton County Schools to find out if the SWAT situation would impact nearby Hilliard Elementary School.

A spokesperson said they were in contact with police and would coordinate if the school start time needed to be later.
