HALL COUNTY, Ga. — A Hall County woman was surprised with an ESPY Award of her own Tuesday, and Channel 2 Action News was there to witness it.
Channel 2's Linda Stouffer went to Hall County to witness Katie Wilson receive her special recognition.
Wilson, a gymnast with the Special Olympics, has been competing for over 30 years in Georgia and around the world.

“I really love what I can do for who I am,” Wilson told Stouffer. “It really doesn’t matter if I have a disability or not.”

While competing, she has met governors, presidents and the founder of the Special Olympics, Eunice Kennedy Shriver.
Shriver, who passed away in 2009, will be honored with the Arthur Ashe Courage Award from former first lady Michelle Obama.

Wilson received the ESPY for how awesome she was and for how much work she has put into the Special Olympics.
As Wilson got emotional, she said beyond receiving the award, it is all about being positive.
“All athletes never give up, we’re all winners,” Wilson said.
