HALL COUNTY, Ga. — A Gainesville Police K-9 officer’s watch has ended after he died experiencing a sudden medical condition while on duty, the department said.
K-9 Arlo was born in Budapest, Hungary, in 2016.

As a dual-purpose K-9, he was certified in police utility and narcotics detection, the department noted.
After completing his training in Hungary, he was adopted by the GPD in early 2018.

Police said Arlo’s partner, Sergeant VonEssen, “was proud and honored to work with and beside him daily.”
“Arlo was more than a dog, he was a dedicated officer of this agency and a loyal friend. He will truly be missed,” Chief Jay Parrish said.
