HALL COUNTY, Ga. — A Hall County daycare owner and her employee are facing nearly a dozen charges after authorities say they gave high levels of medicine to the children in their care.
Stacie Fuller Young and her daughter-in-law, Ptiery Verby-Sunshine Edge, were indicted on 11 charges of cruelty to children last week.
According to the indictment handed up by a grand jury, 11 children were given diphenhydramine, most commonly known as Benadryl, and two of the children were given melatonin.

Authorities say according to bloodwork, the children’s levels of Benadryl were described in the “high” range.
Hall County officials said the children had attended Young’s daycare since Nov. 2023. The reported change in behavior started in Oct. 2024.
Both Young and Edge previously posted bond, but were taken back into custody over the weekend, according to Hall County jail records.

After their initial arrest, Channel 2 Action News reached out to the Department of Early Childcare and Learning and they shared the following information:
- Young is not licensed and she cannot care for more than two children for pay without being licensed.
- DECAL’s investigation started on January 6, 2025.
- Young was issued a cease and desist on January 7, 2025.
