GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Lawrenceville police have charged the driver of a semi-truck in a wreck that left one person dead and 18 others injured on Georgia Highway 316.
The crash happened on GA-316 at Buford Highway in Lawrenceville June 12.
Joseph Newson, 60, of Jackson, is charged with second-degree vehicular homicide. He was booked into jail 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Eva Wilkerson, 62, of Winder, died in the fiery crash.
We’re talking to authorities about possible additional charges for the driver, on Channel 2 Action News.
Gwinnett County police told Channel 2’s Tony Thomas Newson has been cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
There is no evidence or indication that he was impaired in any way at the time of the crash, Lawrenceville police said.
