GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Police arrested three suspects after a dramatic foot chase through several backyards in a Gwinnett County neighborhood Thursday.

Officers say K9s helped take down the suspects after they pulled into a church parking lot off Five Forks Trickum Road in Lawrenceville and tried to run away. %

One suspect knocked on a woman’s window for help, but she called 911 instead.

“I started looking out one of the side blinds to see if there was something going on and all the sudden a male figure appeared in the bay window right on the opposite side of the window,” said Arletta Cunningham.

She says as soon as she saw the man, he started pleading with her for help.

“He was saying, ‘Please let me in. Someone is shooting at me.’ And I know I hadn't heard any shooting,” she said.

So she ran to call 911 and the man ran away.

“It was just scary,” she said.

Police say the man was one of three suspects in a Thursday morning theft of electronics at a Barrow County Verizon store. The thieves got away, but police say they tracked them to the area near Patterson Road, where they pulled them over.

“They ran into a couple of neighborhoods. They ran probably about a half mile in distance around a lake,” said Sgt. Chris Ralston with the Lawrenceville Police Department.

Barrow County sheriff's deputies, along with Lawrenceville and Gwinnett County police flooded the area. %

Investigators say their dogs caught two of the men, sending one to the hospital for bite wounds. The other two were placed in handcuffs for a ride back to Winder.

Some of the stolen phones and pads were allegedly found inside the car, which was abandoned just a short distance from Cunningham’s back deck.

Dankivion Chatman, Brandon Lee Smarr and Donald Lawrence are facing burglary charges.
