GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A woman is dead after a man walked up to her vehicle and opened fire, according to officials.

Gwinnett County police said it happened before 3 p.m. on the 1600 block of Pleasant Hill Road in Duluth, in the parking lot of a busy shopping center.

Homicide detectives are speaking to witnesses. They have not released the identity of the victim.

“It’s kind of surreal that my car is literally two cars over from the car that got shot,” witness Hiroki Harris told Channel 2 Gwinnett County Bureau Chief Matt Johnson.

Cpl. Angela Carter with Gwinnett County Police said they believe the shooting was domestic-related.

People in the parking lot called police when the shots were fired. Investigators said the woman was in her car when she was hit.

Anyone with information was urged to contact Gwinnett County police.
