GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Police say a man has been charged with homicide by vehicle after he hit a person on a riding lawn mower in Snellville.
Police said the accident happened on Huff Park Court Thursday night. Police said Lamon Gravesande was traveling east on Lee Road when he hit a man on a riding lawnmower, which was traveling westbound in the eastbound lane toward Huff Park Court.
The impact caused the lawnmower to flip over.
Police said Gravesande continued on Lee Road and ran from the scene. The driver of the lawnmower was killed.

Police said vehicle debris left at the scene helped them identify the other car. They were also able to follow a fluid trail from the scene.
Gravesande’s vehicle was located on Meadow Point Drive with damage consistent with the debris left at the scene. Police found Gravesande at his home and he admitted to driving the car.
Warrants were obtained for Gravesande’s arrest on charges of hit and run resulting in a death, homicide by vehicle -- leaving the scene, and duty to report an accident.
Gravesande was taken to the Gwinnett County Jail.
The victim was identified as Jeffrey Hibbler.
