GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Firefighters worked into the night to put out a fire that broke out on Friday afternoon in Gwinnett County. Channel 2 Action News has learned eight families lost their homes.
Authorities told Channel 2 Action News the fire happened at the Lakeside Retreat on Park Lake Lane in Peachtree Corners.
We showed you video from NewsChopper 2 during our 5 p.m. newscast of crews working to get the fire under control.
A victim we spoke with said her apartment was destroyed.
According to the Gwinnett County Fire Department, there are no injuries. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Eight families, roughly 32 people, called these buildings home.
All were able to get out unharmed but the fire caused heavy smoke and water damage.
While investigators look for a cause, people whose units were destroyed are being helped by the Red Cross.
