Dog missing after Gwinnett woman hit by car

Allie is missing after her owner was hit by a car

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A desperate search is underway for a missing and possibly injured dog after her owner was struck by an SUV that jumped the curb during a Thursday morning walk. The vehicle hit the victim, Georgette Stovall, on a sidewalk as she walked her dog Allie near the corner of Bethany Church and Brannan roads in Gwinnett County on Thursday.

Stovall suffered life-threatening injuries and has since had to have the lower part of her left leg amputated, according to a family friend. Stovall also suffered broken bones and is being monitored closely at Gwinnett Medical Center for massive swelling on her brain and massive internal bleeding.

Stovall’s dog, Allie, ran away from the accident scene and may be injured, according to relatives. She was wearing a yellow collar and would possibly still be dragging a yellow leash. Blood found on the front porch of the home has led relatives to believe Allie returned home at some point.

Flyers have been placed in the area of the accident and family friends have checked with area veterinarian offices and shelters for any sign of Allie. Friends have been actively searching for her in the area of the accident.
