After nearly 3 years, a Gwinnett family has their beloved dog back

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A Gwinnett County family has been reunited with their beloved after almost three years.

The family says they thought they had seen the last of their dog, Teddy.

“This heartwarming story emphasizes the importance of microchipping your pets to increase the chances of being reunited with them if they ever get lost,” said Division Director Vernon Sawyer.

Gwinnett County Animal Welfare and Enforcement says they were able to use Teddy’s microchip to locate the pet and reunite the family.

Photos from the reunion show the tearful moments the family of three saw Teddy for the first time in years.

A microchip is a tiny device usually implanted between the animal’s shoulder blades with a unique identification number that can help with tracking.
