CEO accused of offering probationers sex in exchange for falsifying records

GWINNETT, Ga. — Investigators say the head of that nonprofit organization propositioned at least two women for sex.

Investigators arrested CEO Darrell Ellison following an undercover operation.

Ellison insisted the charges "aren't what they seem to be."

Ellison's "Jails to Nails" program helps probationers serve community service. But he's now the one in big trouble.

Ellison was booked into the Gwinnett County Jail Thursday. Authorities said he offered at least one female probationer sex for telling authorities she completed her community service when she didn't. She went to authorities who set up a sting.

"Not surprised, as much as just disappointed," said vice president of Southeastern Corrections, John Prescott.

Southeastern Corrections is the company which handles the Gwinnett County state court probation services. Jails to Nails is one of 70 nonprofits the company refers probationers to. On its website, its slogan reads, "Providing ex-offenders more than a second chance."

"There have been probably five cases that we are looking at with some irregularities," Prescott said.

Prescott said he's turned over those cases to sheriff's investigators.

"We do have concerns that there may be other victims," said Gwinnett County Sheriff's Deputy Shannon Volkodav.

Ellison bonded out of jail on charges of conspiracy to commit a crime and making false statements.

Channel 2's Tony Thomas talked to Ellison by phone Friday afternoon and he said the situation wasn't as it seems.

Authorities are considering more charges.
