‘Get the duct tape’ Feisty alligator captured near Georgia church

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Ga. — An alligator is no longer lurking near a church and homes in a southwest Georgia county.

The alligator was spotted under a truck near the Donalsonville First Baptist Church in Seminole County on Friday.

The Donalsonville Police Department posted on Facebook about capturing the alligator.

Video shows the gator roll and bite down after emergency workers used a snare to remove it from a parking area.

The alligator snapped at one man as he got close. The team tossed what looked like a heavy blanket over the alligator’s head before a man then held the alligator’s mouth closed. An officer taped the gator’s mouth shut and also taped the alligator’s feet.

Donalsonville Police, Seminole County Code Enforcement and a concerned citizen helped capture the alligator.

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources relocated the alligator, according to Donalsonville Police.

There are approximately 200,000 to 250,000 alligators in Georgia, according to the DNR.

Alligators typically live south of the fall line which roughly traverses the cities of Columbus, Macon and Augusta.

Any alligators found above the fall line were likely relocated there by humans.
