DANVILLE, Ind. — A Georgia woman is facing multiple charges after police say she tried to destroy evidence during a traffic stop.

Danville Police in Indiana say an officer stopped a red Ford Focus around 1:50 a.m. on Thursday after spotting the car commit several traffic violations, including crossing the center line multiple times.
The driver was identified as Jennifer Dixon, 42, of Barnesville, Ga.
During the investigation, officers said Dixon’s behavior raised suspicions that she may have been hiding contraband. After she consented to a search of her car, officers noticed what appeared to be plastic bags hidden inside her mouth.
Police said they ordered Dixon to spit out the bags, but she allegedly began chewing and attempting to swallow them instead.

Officers intervened, saying they were trying to prevent the destruction of evidence and protect Dixon from possible medical complications associated with ingesting suspected drugs.
According to police, Dixon resisted officers’ attempts to recover the bags and allegedly bit one officer on the finger during the struggle. Officers eventually recovered two plastic bags containing a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine.
Because of concerns that she may have swallowed some of the suspected drug, emergency medical personnel were called to the scene. Dixon was taken to Hendricks Regional Health for evaluation and treatment before being medically cleared and booked into the Hendricks County Jail.
Dixon faces the following preliminary charges:
- Possession of methamphetamine
- Battery on a public safety official
- Resisting law enforcement
- Obstruction of justice
The investigation remains ongoing.
