Georgia parents of 5 killed in 3-car crash heading to son’s football game

BUTTS COUNTY, Ga. — A Georgia community is mourning the loss of a beloved couple killed in a crash on Friday night.

Kevin and Christain “CeCe” Sims died on the way to their son’s football game for Jackson High School against Upson-Lee High School.

A driver collided with them and sent the Sims’ car rotating into a ditch. GSP said that driver’s car went airborne and landed on the highway shoulder.

Georgia State Patrol said a car hit the back of the Sims’ car as they were driving west on Highway 36 in Lamar County. The impact sent them into the eastbound lanes.

CeCe Sims died at the scene. Kevin Smith after he was taken to a local hospital.

The couple leaves behind five children. The Jackson Progress-Argus newspaper reported that the Sims were high school sweethearts at Jackson High School.

“We’re all mourning tragic loss of Kevin & Christain Sims; high school sweethearts both raised in Jackson, GA,” friends wrote in a GoFundMe. “KD and Cece were impactful leaders in their families and community. They are survived by their 5 children. Our community is coming together to contribute to the families and future of their legacy.”

A vigil is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday night.
