An emergency order and curfew are now in place following a deadly mass shooting that killed two men and injured dozens of people.
The shooting happened Sunday morning during a homecoming block party in Vienna, which is about two hours south of Atlanta in Dooly County.

Ja’Quavion Jackson, a 21-year-old from Cordele, and Macaleb Jackson, a 23-year-old from Hawkinsville died in the shooting. Deputies estimated that 35 others were either shot or hit by cars while trying to get away from the gunfire.

On Monday, Vienna Mayor Eddie Daniels signed an emergency declaration “to reduce the risk of injury, violence, property damage, and disorder, and to help emergency personnel protect the community.”
The order went into effect immediately.
Daniels also issued a curfew that will be in place from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. every weeknight and midnight until 6 a.m. on the weekends.
There are exemptions for essential travel, emergency needs, official duties, and other activity that allowed by the city or protected by law.
