Georgia hospitals generated $145 billion in economic activity statewide, according to a new report from the Georgia Hospital Association.

The report, based on 2024 data and independent third-party modeling, found hospitals’ economic impact increased by $8 billion, or 5.8%, from the previous year.
Hospitals create and support more than 590,000 full- and part-time jobs across Georgia, according to the report.
The report also found that for every $1 spent by a hospital, $2.11 is generated in state and local economic activity.

The Georgia Hospital Association said the report highlights the broader economic impact of hospitals, including jobs and wages, tax contributions and spending.
The figures were developed using IMPLAN economic impact analysis software, along with public data from the Georgia Department of Community Health and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
The Georgia Hospital Association represents more than 150 hospitals across the state.
