Georgia high school briefly put on lockdown after shooting

SAVANNAH, Ga. — A high school in Chatham County has lifted a lockdown Tuesday after a shooting near the campus that left one person with serious injuries.

Windsor Forest High School students had already been dismissed for the day at the time of the shooting, but anyone there for afterschool activities was brought inside, WJCL reported.

Georgia Southern University is also nearby, and it sent out a shelter-in-place order that was later lifted. They said one suspect was in police custody, and one was not.

Chatham County Schools confirmed the lockdown was lifted but said Savannah Police remain at the scene to investigate.

Savannah-Chatham Board of Education Police are assisting due to the proximity of the shooting to the school.

Savannah Police responded to the area near the intersection of Largo Drive and Woodley Road.
