Georgia firefighter dies, remembered as ‘friend and brother’ in his department

A metro Atlanta fire department is mourning one of its firefighters.

Woodstock Senior Firefighter Andrew McMichen died while off-duty. The department shared the news with Channel 2 Action News in a release.

“Andrew was a valued member of our department, a friend, and a brother to those who worked alongside him,” Woodstock Fire Chief Shane Dobson said in a message to department members on Monday. “His loss is deeply felt throughout our department, and he will be greatly missed.”

Dobson added that Woodstock Fire Department asks everyone to respect the privacy of Andrew’s family as they grieve this tremendous loss.

At this time his cause of death has not been released. Funeral arrangements are pending.
