Georgia residents may be voting on new machines in the next presidential election.

Lawmakers are running out of time to decide what, if anything, will replace the state’s controversial Dominion voting machines.
Multiple investigations proved there was no voter fraud in Georgia’s 2020 presidential election, though many critics remain convinced, without evidence, there was.
Thursday morning, a joint committee made up of Congressman and election officials met to talk about replacing the machines with ones that don’t use QR codes.
For the first time, they heard from State Elections Director Blake Evans, who told them that whatever they recommend, it’s got to be quick if it’s to go into effect by November 2028.

“If there is a new system that we get it in the hands of county elections officials quickly so they can learn it, and then be prepared to provide training to their poll workers so that in 2028, when voters show up, it continues to be a smooth process, which is what our voters here in Georgia are used to,” Evans said.
Paulding County Elections Supervisor Deidre Holden is on the committee, too. She’s a fierce defender of election integrity. She says she is alright with new voting machines but warns that any decision must be made quickly.
“There’s a lot of conspiracy theorists out there, and that’s who people listen to,” Holden said. “We have to be aggressive. Yes, we have to have our plans ready.”
Elections officials say they can do it, but the legislature must act quickly to approve a new system and fund it and its implementation.
This committee will make its recommendations to the legislature in January.
“Ultimately our goal is boring elections,” said State Rep. Victor Anderson.
