WHAT IS AMENDMENT 1 ON THE GEORGIA BALLOT?
What the amendment asks on the ballot: “Shall the Constitution of Georgia, for the purpose of protecting family farmland, be amended so as to increase the maximum acreage to qualify for assessment and taxation as a bona fide conservation use property from 2,000 acres to 4,000 acres?”
What happens if it passes: Amendment 1 has to do with a tax break for farmers and timber growers. The maximum acreage that farmers can qualify for the tax break would increase from 2,000 acres to 4,000 acres.
WHAT IS AMENDMENT 2 ON THE GEORGIA BALLOT?
What the amendments asks on the ballot: “Shall the Constitution of Georgia be amended so as to require that all probate court judges be elected in nonpartisan elections?”
What happens if it passes: Amendment 2 would require all probate court judges in Georgia to be elected in nonpartisan elections, meaning candidates would appear on the ballot without political party affiliations.
Probate judges handle matters including wills, estates, marriage licenses and firearms licenses.
WHAT IS AMENDMENT 3 ON THE GEORGIA BALLOT?
What the amendment asks on the ballot: “Shall the Constitution of Georgia be amended so as to authorize the General Assembly to dedicate certain existing revenues, including revenues reallocated by law, to a nonlapsing fund to be used exclusively for the expansion, maintenance, and operation of emergency 9-1-1 systems in this state?”
What happens if it passes: Amendment 3 would allow the Georgia state legislature to create a special “next generation 911 fund.” The amendment would set aside funding that can only be used to expand, maintain and operate 911 systems across the state, including upgrades to next-generation 911 technology.
