Victims told police that a man kicked through the back door and threw bricks through a window, injuring an elderly man inside. They knew the suspect and shared his identity and description of his vehicle.
Officers found his car one street over on Orchard Drive.
The man, whose name has not been released, came out on the porch armed with a screwdriver and refused to drop it before charging at officers.
That’s when Chief Drossman says an officer shot him, but he got back up and charged at another officer, so the second officer shot him as well.
At last check, the man was in surgery.
This is first officer-involved shooting in Commerce this year.
