WALTON COUNTY, Ga. — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting in Walton County.

Investigators said the incident happened along Lovers Lane in Monroe.

The GBI confirmed two people were shot, one person is dead and no officers were hurt in the incident.

The Sheriff's Office said it was called to the home just after 12 p.m. for a disturbance with a family member, later identified as Hollis, who had a gun inside the home. The family member told dispatch that Hollis was acting erratic.

The man who died was identified as Chavius Hollis, 26.

When deputies arrived, a family member and multiple deputies went inside the home, according to the GBI.

While inside, deputies say Hollis raised his gun and a deputy fired shots, hitting Hollis.

Hollis' family member was also hit by the gunfire, GBI spokeswoman Nelly Miles said. He is being treated for his injuries and is expected to recover.
