LONG COUNTY, Ga. — State investigators have announced three arrests in the killing of a U.S. marshal from Hall County.
Deputy Cmdr. Patrick Carothers died in November 2016 while serving a warrant at a home in Long County near Savannah.
Carothers was a 26-year veteran of the U.S. Marshal’s Service and was originally from Flowery Branch.
Authorities were look for Dontrell Carter when they went to the home.
Carter, 25, was wanted for attempted murder of police officers, domestic violence and unlawfully discharging a weapon during an incident in September 2016 in Sumter County, South Carolina.
When marshals arrived at the home, they said Carter was there with Ashley Chavon Roberts, Levy Lewis Jenkins and Jeremy Lance Lewis.

Investigators said Carter shot and killed Carothers. Carter was then shot multiple times by authorities and died at a hospital in Savannah.
The three suspects arrested overnight Wednesday are accused of helping Carter hide out and hindering his capture.
