COBB COUNTY, Ga.,None — A Cobb County woman is upset her apartment complex did nothing to improve security after thieves broke into her apartment twice.

There have been four break-ins at the Belmont Place Apartment complex since September. A resident told Channel 2's Amy Napier Viteri the first break-in at her apartment happened on Oct. 11 when thieves took two flat-screen TVs, a laptop and other computer equipment. She said her door was damaged, and she stayed at home for two days waiting on management to replace it.

Then, on Nov. 7, the resident got a call from police and her alarm company saying someone had broken in again. She told management about the issues and asked to be let out of her lease because she felt unsafe. In order to break the lease, management told her she would need to pay $4,000.

"I think it’s exorbitant, and I would really like for them to let me out of my lease so that I can move somewhere where I feel more secure," she told Channel 2’s Amy Napier Viteri.

Management at the complex told Napier Viteri there is not a security concern at the complex, and there are no plans to increase security patrols. A manager also said there is a courtesy officer who lives on site.
