TROUP COUNTY, Ga. — The Troup County Sheriff’s Office said the woman who was found unresponsive, along with a teen who was pulled from a lake last Saturday, has died.
Investigators identified the victims as 49-year-old Stephanie Walker and 13-year-old Makayla Prather.

When investigators arrived to the scene, they found Walker, who was not breathing.
Deputies say Walker entered West Point Lake near the 400 block of Lower Glass Bridge Road last Saturday in an attempt to rescue Prather, her granddaughter.
Deputies say they believe Walker jumped in to help Prather, who they said “became distressed,” when she also started to have trouble.

The Department of Natural Resources and Troup County deputies started searching for Prather, but could not immediately find her.
Prather was found later in the day after a dive team with the Columbus Fire and Rescue was called out to the scene.

Divers recovered Prather’s body from the lake around 7:30 p.m., last Saturday, according to investigators.
Walker died at Well Star West Georgia Medical Center on Friday, deputies said.
