FORT VALLEY, Ga. — Funeral arrangements have been announced for a college student who disappeared on Valentine’s Day and was later found dead.
Anitra Gunn, 23, was a student at Fort Valley State University and a graduate of Westlake High School in Fulton County.
Gunn vanished Feb. 14 in the Fort Valley area. Her body was found Feb. 18 in a wooded area of Crawford County. Her death has been ruled a homicide.
Her homecoming service is set for 11 a.m. central time Saturday at Greater Peace Missionary Baptist Church in Opelika, Ala. Gunn had family in the area.
Church officials said Monday that the pastor from Gunn’s home church, New Caanan Baptist in Camp Hill, will perform the eulogy. She will then be buried in Camp Hill.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to cover her funeral and burial expenses.
"The ray of sunshine and the apple of our eye gained her heavenly wings. Although we have so many unanswered questions, we are trusting in God thru it all," the page reads. "We are so THANKFUL for the outpouring of love, support and prayers from all over the country."
Gunn’s boyfriend, DeMarcus Little, a 23-year-old U.S. Army soldier stationed at Fort Gordon, has been charged with malice murder in her death. He was previously charged with damaging her property after police said he smashed her windows and slashed her tires Feb. 5.
