SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. — Residents of a Sandy Springs townhome community are once again calling for changes after another driver crashed through their neighborhood entrance over the weekend.

The latest crash happened around midnight Saturday near the intersection of Peachtree Dunwoody Road and the Glenridge Connector.
Neighbors say a suspected drunken driver drove through the community’s brick entrance and steel gate after apparently failing to stop at the end of the roadway.
Residents said they are relieved no one was injured, and no homes were struck in the latest incident.
Homeowner Heather Rellinger said the crash is just the latest in a long string of similar incidents.
“How do we get protected as a community, is what I want to know,” Rellinger said.
She estimates there have been at least six crashes at the same location since she moved into the neighborhood in 2020.
“There’s panic, anxiety, PTSD, all of it,” Rellinger said. “People walk their dogs, take their babies in strollers, their young children.”

Channel 2 Action News has previously reported on multiple crashes at the same entrance. In one case, a DUI suspect crashed into the neighborhood, hitting mailboxes, a tree and a parked vehicle. In another, a vehicle smashed through a brick wall and into the front of a townhome.
“And the car was inside the house,” a resident recalled following that crash.
In 2023, the city installed new signs, restriped the roadway and added reflective poles designed to alert drivers that the road ends ahead. Residents said those improvements appeared to help for a time, but they now want additional safety measures.
“Eventually somebody’s going to get seriously injured, or they’re going to lose their life,” Rellinger said.
Among the changes residents would like to see are a lower speed limit on the Glenridge Connector and the possible addition of a roundabout near the intersection.
Rellinger said she plans to meet with a Sandy Springs council member and a city traffic engineer on Monday to discuss potential solutions.
