Routine traffic stop uncovers more than expected on GA 400

ALPHARETTA, Ga. — What started as a routine traffic stop on Georgia 400 quickly escalated into a significant arrest, according to Alpharetta police.

Police say Officer L. Butler was monitoring speeds along GA 400 southbound lanes near Encore Parkway when the officer pulled over a driver for speeding.

During the stop, authorities discovered the driver had multiple outstanding felony warrants out of both Fulton and Cobb counties. Those warrants included probation violations tied to serious charges such as aggravated assault, fleeing and eluding, and obstruction.

As the investigation continued, officers say they uncovered more.

Police report finding multiple drugs packaged for distribution, including MDMA, marijuana, methamphetamine, cocaine, and crack cocaine. A gun was also recovered during the stop, according to authorities.

The suspect now faces several additional charges, including trafficking, possession with intent to distribute, and firearm-related offenses. The suspect’s age and identity was not released.

“This arrest is a direct result of attentive patrol work, effective use of resources, and a commitment to keeping our community safe,” APD said.
