In a statement from Roswell Mayor Kurt Wilson, Vanstrom was thanked for his service to Roswell’s citizens.
“Peter Vanstrom has served the citizens of Roswell with great distinction. I have tremendous respect for his contributions to the City, the Council, and all that has been accomplished during his tenure. He will be missed,” Wilson said in a statement.
Vanstrom was elected in 2021 and was sworn into office in January 2022.

“I have experienced mounting personal challenges that will greatly limit the time that I will have available to devote to the high demands of serving with this Mayor and Council moving forward. My desire is to vacate my seat with no cost to the taxpayers of Roswell,” Vanstrom wrote in an email to the Council.
Officials said they will call for a special election to fill Vanstrom’s vacated council seat within 60 days.
It is expected the election will be held in conjunction with the November 2023 municipal election.
