FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — Dozens of teachers and students have gotten sick at Wolf Creek Elementary School in south Fulton County.

Channel 2′s Tyisha Fernandes spoke with parents whose children attend the school and say they have questions about how the Fulton County School District is handling the outbreak.

One man who delivers food to the school several times a week through Instacart says he didn’t even know that the school is dealing with a stomach bug outbreak.

“They should close the school down and deep clean it,” he told Fernandes.

A spokesperson with Fulton County Schools said for the past week, several students and staff have been experiencing symptoms like vomiting, stomachache and diarrhea.

The district spokesperson said the school has not been closed down, but a team of 14 people, including a district environmental technician, did a total disinfection of the school.

School administrators also say that they consulted the Fulton County Board of Health who sent medical staff to collect stool samples from sick students for testing.

Some parents say they believe more needs to be done.

“So just from a public health standpoint, if these kids are getting sick, shut the school down...Let them go to school from home, figure it out and then reopen the school,” parent Shawn Boston.

Other parents told Fernandes that they are concerned about the lack of custodial staff at the school.

The district says they have had some turnover, but three of four custodial positions are filled.

Administrators say they are unaware of anyone being hospitalized.

“Kids are innocent. That sounds like adult problems that they need to take care of,” Boston said.
