FULTON COUNTY, Ga. — A major change is now in place at restaurants and bars in the city of South Fulton.

City leaders passed a resolution allowing bars and restaurants to stay open until 3 a.m., amending the original law that had the same establishments close by 2 a.m. due to the pandemic.

“You know, an extra hour of business on the weekends does help us out a lot,” Carlos Stubbs Jr., VVS Restaurant and Bar manager, said.

Mayor Khalid Kamau said by having the bars and restaurants stay open later, they will be able to better compete against establishments in neighboring cities like East Point and Atlanta.

The resolution also requires restaurants and bar owners to have at least two post-certified security guards on the property until 4 a.m.

“Owners of clubs, restaurants, and lounges in South Fulton have been asking for this,” Mayor Kamau said. “People were not just leaving early but sometimes choosing other clubs over ours because we weren’t open as late.”
