FAIRBURN, Ga. — Some Fairburn homeowners say they’ve been forced to wait weeks to close on their homes.
They say that the City of Atlanta is holding up an entire neighborhood.
Channel 2′s investigative reporter Ashli Lincoln has learned that missing water meters are behind the delay.

Ken and Denise Moss say they’re calling an Airbnb home because their newly built Fairburn home is not move-in ready.
“It’s just really, really frustrating and mind-blowing that this is happening,” Denise Moss said
The Moss’s say they were told by their developer the home can’t be closed on because they’re still waiting for water meters to be issued by the City of Atlanta.
“It’s just a matter of getting the meters from the City of Atlanta,” Moss said.

Several sold homes remain empty in the Enclave at Parkway Village subdivision, with water fixtures awaiting to be installed.
“They’re completed, but they don’t have any plumbing because of the uninstalled water meters,” said Moss.
The City of Atlanta says the delay is due to the city not receiving the necessary documentation in time. Once processing has been finalized the developer will have to schedule to pick up or have the meters delivered.
“It’s frustrating,” Ken Moss said.
The city says while orders are processed in the order they’re received, they’re working to expedite meters for the Enclave subdivision.
