Fright Fest brings new haunts, movie franchises, bugs to Six Flags

AUSTELL, Ga. — Fright Fest brings twisted nightmares, diabolical contraptions and eerie creatures to Six Flags Over Georgia, featuring 13 spooky attractions through Halloween.

The seasonal event transforms the theme park after dark with roaming scare actors and themed haunted houses.
Richard Pretlow, park president at Six Flags Over Georgia, described the park’s nighttime atmosphere. “When it gets dark the whole park is transformed,” Pretlow said. “We have cool lights, all the monsters and ghouls come out. It’s just really a really a great and experience.”
Featured attractions at this year’s event include movie-inspired haunted houses. Guests can walk through scenes from popular film series in The “Conjuring Universe” or navigate iconic moments from another film franchise in “Saw: Legacy of Terror.”

The seasonal lineup also features Finkelstein’s House of Fun, which includes malevolent clowns and scary surprises. Additionally, the park updated a previous attraction called Infestation. Pretlow highlighted the two haunted houses.

“We have Dr. Finkelstein. That one is really cool,” Pretlow told WSB-TV’s Nelson Hicks. “I actually walked through that one a couple of days ago. And not only is it fun, it’s also scary. So that one’s really cool and then of course we have Infestation. That is a reimagination of one of our older haunted houses that I still think folks will enjoy. It just gives you the feeling that you’re surrounded by lots and lots of creepy crawlers.”

Beyond the indoor houses, guests can encounter scare actors in outdoor scare zones located throughout the park. Access to the haunted houses requires a separate attraction wristband, while the scare zones are accessible to all park visitors.
“So all of our haunted houses, you do have to buy the haunted house, you know, traction band to get into those,” Pretlow said. “But we do have scare zones that you can walk through. We have lots of scare actors in those areas to really just immerse you in the experience of Halloween and Fright Fest.”
Evening events at Fright Fest are recommended for visitors ages 13 and older. For younger children and families, the park provides Tricks and Treats during daylight hours. All visitors ages 17 and under are required to be accompanied by a chaperone during their entire visit to the park.
The event takes place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings through Halloween.
Regular park rides and attractions remain operational alongside the Halloween festivities.
