Flood waters delay school in Polk County by 2 hours

POLK COUNTY, Ga. — Students and teachers in Polk County will report to school two hours later Friday to give them time to safely get there after flooding Thursday afternoon.

The school district said they made this decision after speaking with local Emergency Management Officials who deemed the roads too flooded for drivers to make the commute to school in the dark.

They say that the two-hour delay will allow bus drivers and riders and student drivers to drive to school during the daylight.

Students who cannot get to school because of road conditions will be excused.

Dismissal times remain the same.
