ATLANTA — A popular burger restaurant in Buckhead that failed a health inspection late last week has now passed with an A grade.
FLIP Burger Boutique opened its first restaurant in Atlanta in 2008. The Buckhead location opened two years later.
In the last year and a half, the Buckhead location has been up and down in its health inspection score.
On May 28, Flip Burger on Roswell Road failed its health inspection with a 65.
"Wow, that's crazy. I mean, the food is good," customer Sterling Fisher told Channel 2's Carol Sbarge.
"I did have a raw dish, so you know, a little bit eye opening," said customer Ye Myo.
Some of the violations on the May 28 inspection included cold food storage not maintained cold enough, ice machine with mold/slime build up at chute, and observed raw meat stored improperly.
Just over a year ago, the Buckhead Flip Burger was inspected twice. They got a 78 and then a 97.
Flip Burger requested a re-inspection quickly this time, in part because they say there was a sewer problem at the shopping center where Flip Burger is located on the day of the inspection.
Monday afternoon during a re-inspection, the restaurant got a 91, which is an A.
In a statement, the CEO of Flip Burger Boutique, Rick Tasman, said, "FLIP Burger Boutique takes this matter very seriously and has corrected what the inspector noted. There was never a time when guests' health was at risk. We have been re-evaluated and are pleased with our improved score of 91-A."
“They’re trying. I probably won’t be back for a while though,” said customer Kay Ren.
