Firefighters extinguish 3-alarm restaurant fire

ATLANTA — Firefighters were pulled out of a three-alarm fire at an Atlanta restaurant out of concern for their safety.

Terrance Mims, the executive chef at Michons Smokehouse on Mitchell Street, said he and two employees were in the restaurant around 9:20 a.m. when one of the employees noticed a fire in the ceiling. He said they fled the building and called 911.

The Atlanta Fire Department said firefighters had a hard time accessing the back of the building, but they were eventually able to extinguish the fire  from the roof.

"The structural integrity of the building has been compromised with the ehat, as well as the water weight," Capt. Jolyon Bundrige said.
