DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Hundreds of DeKalb County residents waited for more than 24 hours to have their water turned back on after a car slammed into a fire hydrant Sunday morning.
Officials said the crash happened on Stone Mountain Lithonia Road near Rockbridge around 3 a.m. Sunday.
More than 1,000 people in the area awoke to no water on Sunday and were without water until 11:30 a.m. Monday.
Residents used buckets and empty jugs to collect water from the hydrant.
"Getting water to at least be able to flush the commodes and everything," one resident said.
