GREENE COUNTY, Ga. — A fire at a clubhouse near Lake Oconee that started Saturday night is currently under control, Greene County Fire Rescue reported Sunday. Crews are currently working to put out hot spots.

Saturday night, several fire units responded to Reynolds Landing clubhouse, where the structure of about 20,000 was heavily involved in fire.
Greene County Fire Rescue commended the Reynolds staff “for their outstanding actions in evacuating all patrons and ensuring all rooms were cleared before exiting the building. Your quick thinking and commitment to safety made a difference!”
Crews started fire suppression efforts immediately, deploying a deck gun and a 2.5-inch handline to battle the blaze.

The windy conditions that prevailed in the aftermath of Isaias made fighting the blaze challenging.
“Despite these challenges, all crews worked tirelessly, with very few breaks, to contain the fire to the structure and prevent further spread,” the county fire rescue said.
Greene County Fire Rescue said a special thanks you to Oconee County Fire Rescue for helping provide coverage both at Station 12 and sending more crews for relief.
