FDA issues new warning about dog jerky treats

The FDA is issuing a new health warning about jerky treats for dogs.

The FDA says there have been 1,800 new cases of pet illnesses since the last warning was issued in October.

The majority of the treats were imported from China – with flavors that include chicken, duck and sweet potato.

The agency said it has received about 4,800 complaints and reports of 1,000 dog deaths.

A Channel 2 Action News investigation found nearly 80 complaints from Georgia pet owners. Consumer  date back to 2012.

The treats were pulled from shelves in early 2013, but returned in March of this year.
