FAYETTE COUNTY, Ga. — A special election to fill a seat left open by the passing of a state representative appears to be heading to a runoff.
Representative Leticia “Tish” Naghise, a Democrat serving parts of Fayette and south Fulton counties, passed away in March, during her inaugural term in the state House of Representatives.

On Tuesday, voters in Fayette and Fulton counties headed to the polls to select her replacement.
According to results from the Secretary of State’s Office, it appears that none of the five Democratic candidates reached the required 50% and one votes.
With all precincts reporting, it appears Mark Baker received 33.14% of the votes and Derrick Jackson received 32.22% of the votes.
Once those results are certified by the Secretary of State’s Office in the coming days, Baker and Jackson will head to a runoff to determine who will the State House District 68 seat.
A date has not been announced for the runoff election.
