FAYETTE COUNTY, Ga. — The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office is reminding people to keep an eye on their children in the car, especially during the summer heat.
Earlier this week, they say deputies were called to a home where an 8-month-old had accidentally been locked in the car.

Dash camera video shows deputies in the 85-degree heat smashing the driver’s side window, away from the child, to unlock the car. They are then able to open the door near the child and pull her out.
Paramedics checked the child out and confirmed she was alright. She was able to be returned to her mother.

In Fayette County alone, deputies have been called more than 800 times this year for keys locked in cars. In 70 of those cases, there was also a child or pet inside the car.
