FAA investigating small plane crash in Fayette County

FAYETTE COUNTY — The FAA is investigating a plane crash in Fayetteville.

According to the FAA, a single-engine Socata TBM 700 went down around 1 p.m. Sunday on the Starrs Mill High School campus.

The airplane took off from DeKalb-Peachtree Airport and was traveling to Harris County Airport in Pine Mountain, Fayette County sheriff’s officials said.

The plane did not make it to Falcon Field, but instead, crashed in a practice field at Starrs Mill High School.

They said the plane lost oil pressure and was diverted to Falcon Field in Fayette County.

A male and female were on board the plane. Both were alert, conscious and breathing at the scene, sheriff’s officials said.

The man was taken to Piedmont Fayette Hospital and the woman was taken to Atlanta Medical Center.

No one on the ground was injured, officials said.
