The accident happened around 8:15 p.m. at the Market Center at Holcomb Woods Shopping Center.

Roswell police said the victim, a 54-year-old woman, was standing on a forklift in the store’s receiving area when she was impaled by a crowbar that was sticking out of a cardboard compactor. When officers arrived, she was pinned with the crowbar through her ribcage and stuck in the cardboard compactor behind her.

Roswell firefighters cut the crowbar just enough to get her detangled from the compactor and transported her to the hospital with a part of the crowbar still impaling her.

The victim had surgery late Tuesday night and is expected to recover. Police said the mother of two is stable.

It’s unclear how the accident happened. An employee told police he heard a horn honking and then the victim yelling for help. He found the woman in the back area alone.
