Channel 2 Gwinnett County bureau chief Matt Johnson says the county approved the emergency move on Oct. 28. Those voters now go to Unity Atlanta Church at 3597 Parkway Lane in Peachtree Corners, less than two miles away.

Gwinnett County released this statement:

The emergency polling location change approved this week for precinct 059, LIIV Atlanta Church (formerly Landmark Church), was due to a recent change in property ownership. The other polling locations mentioned in yesterday’s social media post (Precincts 011, 076, 096, 104, 108, 123, and 133) were changed earlier this year for various reasons, and those voters were notified at the time of the change. We encourage residents to double-check their polling location before heading to the polls on Election Day by visiting MVP.SOS.GA.gov.

Pam Johnson, executive director of Unity Atlanta Church, said the county called about a week ago and asked her church to take on a second precinct.

“They didn’t have time to do a facility assessment somewhere else before the election on November the third,” Johnson said.

Johnson said the church, a polling place previously, considers hosting voters an honor.

“We like to do things in the community, and be a part of the community and help the community in any way we can,” she said.
