Eight Georgia middle school students earn perfect scores on SAT or ACT

GEORGIA — The Duke University Talent Identification Program (Duke TIP) announced the names of 64 seventh grade students from across the country who have been named 2015 William and Dorothy C. Bevan Scholars for earning a perfect score on one or more sections of the ACT or SAT.

Eight of those middle school students listed as Bevan Scholars are from Georgia.

  • Brooke Bobo, Creekland Middle School
  • Anup Bottu, The Westminster Schools
  • Jonathan Fang, River Trail Middle School
  • Hyoungjin Kim, Taylor Road Middle School
  • Shreya Kumar, Northwestern Middle School
  • Jeremy Payne, The Walker School
  • Zoe Song, Dickerson Middle School
  • Stephen Yin, Oconee County Middle School

Bevan Scholarships are given each year to the Duke TIP 7th Grade Talent Search participants who earn the highest possible scores on the ACT or SAT. These scholars are recognized at Duke TIP’s Grand Recognition Ceremony at Duke University and are awarded full scholarships to attend TIP’s Center for Summer Studies.

To qualify for the talent search, seventh grade students must rank in the top 5 percent on grade-level standardized tests. Participants then take the same ACT or SAT given to college-bound high school students as an above-level testing experience to learn more about their academic abilities.
